An adventure of new sounds and images – layered, repetitive, undulating patterns and color palettes.
With BOOK of SAMPLES (2021-2023), composer Christina Viola Oorebeek delves for the first time into integrating her new music with “experimental imagery” for video.
Falling in love with the sample book of the textile manufacturer Fortin 1825, Paris, she explores and creates with poetic and associative freedom, image and sound transformations of favorite textile designs from the BOOK of SAMPLES.
There are also two instrumental pieces based on these associations and fantasies, each linked to evd two music videos.
With sound recordings of these “live” works, she created electronic music for each video.
Along with still images from the BOOK of SAMPLES, everything was edited in many ways creating movements and layers of transparency.
The instrumental pieces were performed by amazing and creative musicians – Reinier van Houdt (piano), Doris Hochscheid (cello), Michel Marang on clarinet and Erica Roozendaal on accordion.
