Daan is thirty years old, six years old, ten years old, and fifteen years old. All at the same time.
Daan lives in an ordinary village. In an ordinary house with a father and a mother. She is just in school, just in music class and just in gym. And her very favorite activity is making beautiful things with her imagination; music, drawings or stories.
All sorts of things happen that she can’t explain.For example, she feels all kinds of things she doesn’t want to feel, very strange, but these feelings sometimes come out of the blue. As if someone else enters her body and takes control. And things happen that she is blamed for, that she has nothing to do with. And sleeping … so she never succeeds, because at night she hears all kinds of voices that she just can’t shut up.
Only when she dares to really listen to what she actually hears in the night does she find out why she just won’t sleep and why so many unexplainable things happen.
This afternoon your performance touched me greatly, it did me a lot to see that there are people who do think about my and your situation. Really enjoyed seeing those things.
To the Laaktheater this afternoon for the performance "Nachtuil." A beautiful, vulnerable and important story.
About Daan, about... 6 years, 12, or was it 15? In 10 hours, 11 hours, 12 hours.... About tangerines (genius metaphor!), music, an accordion as co- and antagonist. And especially about "talking helps"!

Nachtuil (night owl) plays in theaters and schools. A lesson plan is available for schools, with a lesson before and a lesson after the performance. The class can be supplemented by a workshop led by Maaike Bloemsma.
